Thief caught on camera | The Kingston Whig-Standard
Kingston Police have charged a man who was caught on camera breaking into a business and stealing a laptop last week.
Police said that on June 15 a business’ video surveillance system caught the man approaching the business at about 6 p.m, and then trying to disable the camera with a bar. Unsuccessful, he then threw a rock through the front window, breaking it.
The man reached through the broken window and grabbed a laptop. The camera footage then shows the man riding away from the scene on a bicycle.
On Friday, at about 10:55 p.m., an officer spotted the suspect riding a bicycle at the corner of Elliot Avenue and Division Street. The officer stopped the man and arrested him.
A 46-year-old man has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and break enter and commit theft to a place other than a dwelling.
