Best OnePlus 7T/7T Pro Deals: Still worth buying in October 2020?
The OnePlus 8 is now on sale in the UK and US and the 8T will launch 14 October, which means the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro are slowly being phased out the market.
While the 7T range is still available from certain retailers and from the network Three, you’re better off buying the OnePlus 8 – or the OnePlus Nord if you’re on a tighter budget. In fact, right now is the best time to do so.

Why you should buy the OnePlus 8 or Nord instead
First off, we expect that the OnePlus 8 will see a price drop after 14 October – which is usually what happens after product launches. The 8 range starts at £599 but is already seeing a £50 discount directly from OnePlus. This places it at the launch price of the 7T but with a more powerful Snapdragon 865 processor instead of the 7T’s 855+.
Second, mid-October also brings Prime Day, Amazon’s biggest sales event of the year.
Here’s everything you need to know about Prime Day
Of course, Prime Day deals are only available to Prime members so it’s worth signing up for if you haven’t already – get the 30-day free trial here. Amazon hasn’t announced whether OnePlus deals will be included, but like OnePlus it too has £50 off the OnePlus 8 right now.
Prime Day usually takes place in July, but with a mid-October launch, the event is certain to kick off the entire Black Friday sales season, which means you might even see price-matching and top discounts from John Lewis and Appliance Direct, which currently stock the OnePlus 8.
Of course, you don’t have to stay within the OnePlus family, check out the best mid-range smartphones on the market.
How much is the OnePlus 7T & 7T Pro worth?
With the launch of the OnePlus 8, the 7T’s price has dropped by £80/US$150 directly from OnePlus. In the US, availability is restricted to the T-Mobile version. The OnePlus 7T Pro also has a £130 discount, dropping the price to £569 from £699. In the US the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren model has $200 off.
While we recommend you opt for the OnePlus 8 or Nord, if you’re convinced you want to stick to the 7T, ensure you’re not paying more than OnePlus’s current list prices:
- OnePlus 7T (8GB RAM, 128GB storage) now at £469/US$499, down from £549/US$599.
- OnePlus 7T Pro (12GB RAM, 256GB storage) now at £569, down from £699, though out of stock at OnePlus UK and unavailable in the US
- 7T Pro McLaren Edition (12GB RAM, 256GB storage) – still costs £799 in the UK but is reduced to $699 in the US from $899

When is Black Friday 2020 – should you wait for a better deal?
Black Friday will take place on Friday 27 November, immediately followed by Cyber Monday on 30 November. Traditionally the biggest sales event of the year, it may yet throw up some even greater tech deals – but with so much uncertainty around finance and retail, and no guarantees regarding what discounts we will see, we advise you not to wait: if you see a deal you like, on a product you need, and you can afford the outlay, buy it today.
